Welcome!

Connecting Coaches to Communities™ is a new program connecting health coach graduates with community members serving our community population through nonprofits or other service professions and who are ready to improve or enhance their health and wellness.

  • New health coach graduates need to accrue 50 coaching sessions before taking the National Medical Board Exam to become a nationally certified health and wellness coach.

  • We are looking for community members who would like to receive free health coaching to improve or enhance their health and wellness and help trained health coach graduates complete their coaching requirements for their national board exam.

Coaching for Community Members

Get connected with one of our health coaches

Health Coaching is a space to assess an area of a person’s life to improve; to generate ideas; and to implement those ideas while your coach guides you to a healthier wellbeing using gentle accountability, evidence-based skilled conversation, clinical interventions, and coach approach strategies. Health coaching is not talk therapy. With the help of a coach, small SMART goals and tiny habit changes are the main focus.

Common health coaching topics include improving healthy lifestyle habits such as

Improve stress management

Create healthier meals and snacks

Increase sleep quality

Add more physical movement

Maintain a positive mindset

Discover more joy

How it works

Coaching sessions are approximately 20-30 minutes per session, once a week for four weeks. Longer session time and more sessions are offered as agreed upon between coach and community member. Coach and community member matches can be discontinued at any time by either party. New coach matches are available upon request.

*Coaching sessions are confidential except when the client has clearly stated indications of self-harm or harm to others then the coach will proceed with calling mental health professionals to provide wellcheck services. Coaches are not responsible for the client’s behavior or health outcome. Coaches do not give advice but offer evidence-based resources vetted by research with permission from the client.

What our community says

Portrait of Jeni Davenport. Health Coaching for Start Ups and NonProfits in San Diego

A warm welcome from Jeni

I have always believed in community service and helping others. From childhood memories at school events, community projects, and church missions, there was always something to participate in that provided community support. As I became an adult, I did not know how to combine all of my interests into one role where I could continue to make a difference on a bigger scale. I volunteered and staffed many nonprofits over the years and know first hand the power of combining big-hearted people with grassroots efforts. On a personal note, there was a time in my life that various community organizations provided me support through a hard time and now I can pay it forward to support them by creating the Connecting Coaches to Communities™ program.

Our Mission

The Need

People often struggle with fatigue, overwhelm, frustration, unfocus, and poor health practices. Our healthcare system often have long wait time for services, unaffordable costs, or other challenging obstacles.
